The following answer sounds simplistic...but think about it. The single worst writing mistake is "not starting."

In my 20-plus years as a magazine editor, I read dozens - perhaps hundreds - of articles on writing. But few gave me advice on beginning a report.

See, if I can't decide how to start something, I hesitate. If I hesitate, I next procrastinate. Procrastination turns to delay, then into hiatus. Whenever I get to that "hiatus" state, I sometimes just abandon the story idea completely.

Please, don't let that happen to you! Here are some "story-starter" ideas to help you commit those first thoughts to paper:

1. If the story is a feature, think first about your CONCLUSION. What main theme do you want to convey to the reader?

29-->2. If the story is a research report, think first about your SOURCES. What experts or researchers do you need to contact? What specific information do you need from them?

3. If you're writing a persuasive paper, think first about EVIDENCE. What facts do you need to present to prove your point?

4. Now, here comes the hardest part: What should your first sentence be?

Here's my secret: I start with my conclusion first, then build the rest of the story to support it. (That technique is discussed in detail in Chapter Three of my book, "Words That Stick.")

One other tip: If you've got a great idea for a report or story, don't let it get away. At the very least, make a short note about it on your desk calendar or in a notebook.

There is something that is long as I live I will never understand. Well I suppose actually there are several things, however right now this is business focused. That something is residual income. I just can't for the life of me understand how someone can go through life and just continue to work at a job with no plan for residual income. So what kind of point am I making here. Simply this, many people argue that home businesses, especially in the area of network marketing don't work. Well gee whiz if a McDonalds was run the same way the majority of people work their home business the McDonalds would all go out of business.

Here is how the typical McDonalds would be run if run by the typical unsuccessful home businessperson.

When it's open - I stress the word open, (more on this) it would probably be open less than 1 hour a day. The workers would be sitting around pretending to be working, but accomplishing very little. And then suddenly at a whim the store would abruptly close, perhaps to open again in a few days or even a few weeks. No schedule or hours of operation would be posted when the store was going to be open. After reopening after an absence the workers would just be getting back in the groove of working again when a half hour later the store would close because no customers were coming in. It seemed not knowing when the store would be open was keeping them away - imagine that. Well after a month or so of no customers the store is closed with the owner muttering under his breath. "These franchise things just don't work!" Then he starts telling all his friends, "I tried one of those franchise things once. They just don't work!"

This example is easy to see and yet we all wonder why a home business fails when conducted in this same manner. What is great about a home business versus a traditional business is you don't have to start each day at 8:00, you have a lot of flexibility. However, you don't have the flexibility not to work for days and weeks at a stretch and engage in poor work habits when you decide to work.

Of course not all the blame can be put on the new home business person, there are some bad programs out there and timing can be bad with others. Of course wrong expectations can mislead many people into discouragement. What do we mean here. Well look at it this way. Very few people would argue that Microsoft would be a poor stock investment today. However, there are people that hype their particular company that has passed it's growth spurt, that you can get rich and retire with their company. This is the same as a dishonest stock broker pushing Microsoft from the angle of it getting ready to explode in value as they will have double digit growth each month for the next 5 years. Hey in the early 80's Microsoft had this type of growth, just don't expect the growth to continue forever.

The point is there are always new Microsoft's in the Business and Home Business markets. It's knowing how to find them that is key. They are out there, home businesses that are rock solid and will experience this type of explosive growth over the next 5 years.

In one of our earlier articles, we demonstrated how the home field advantage was stronger in the first game of a series and qualified that by explaining how the opposing team has to travel to a visitor's stadium and may struggle in the first game.

I wanted to apply a few handicapping principles that we generally apply to the NBA such as the betting against a team on zero-days rest angle.

Home teams in the first game of a series are 54.4% winners if their opponent is playing back-to-back days but only 52.8% if their opponent has had 1 or more days rest. This is a significant advantage that is averaged over approximately 5000 games.

If we condition this fact on our team not having to travel because its previous game was at home, the percentage increases to 975-801, 54.9%. In fact, blindly betting home teams in this situation is +26 units over the past 6 years. Because of the large number of games in baseball, even simple angles such as these do not get factored into the spread as they should.

As my "2005 YTD Home Favorite Money Line Records" piece suggested, home teams perform much better against non-divisional rivals than against divisional rivals. Utilizing that knowledge, we improve this system to 55.6%, +39 units.

American League favorites that fall into this system are 226-113 (66.7%), +56 units over the past 6 seasons with no losing seasons. Even though this is coincidental

Caring for a child recliner is a simple matter. There are a few things that you can do to make your child's recliner last for years.

There are two things that you should consider when you first receive your child recliner. First is the fabric type. If you have a cloth type recliner you will want to consider applying a scotch-guard type product to the recliner before allowing kids to use it. Scotch-guard can protect the fabric from minor stains and spills. It's easy to find, easy to apply and inexpensive. You can get fabric protector from any supermarket and most of the superstores that abound. Applying the fabric protector is simply a matter of spraying the product onto the chair and letting it dry. If you have vinyl, faux-leather or micro-fiber cover on your recliner then there is no need to apply fabric protection, as these covers do a good job of resisting stains and spills.

The second thing you should look at is how difficult it is to raise the footrest in your recliner. The footrest controls the reclining mechanism and on occasion can be too tight for your child to raise on their own. To correct this, place a drop or two of oil on the hinge joints. Some hinges are hidden behind a fabric or plastic covering. This covering can usually be pulled back easily to allow access to the hinges. In most recliners there is no covering on the hinges and applying oil is a simple matter.

Ah, but what do you do when little Johnny spills that Hawaiian Punch all over the chair? Well, if you've applied your fabric protection, then most of the spill will glide right over the material and make it all the way to the floor. In this case, just use a damp rag to wipe down the chair. Let dry and you should be in business. However, if the spill has soaked into the cover, then I recommend using one of the little steam cleaning tools that are now available. If you don't have one of these, then use carbonated water with a rag. The carbonation in the water brings out the stain, allowing you to wipe most of it up. Be sure to let the recliner dry fully after a soaked in spill. The foam underneath the covering can become wet and may need some extra time to dry.

With a little prevention your child recliner should make it through your child's formative years and will be a great source of pride and joy.

In my business, I talk to a lot of gals and guys about lingerie. Ladies, if you heard what the guys say, you'd feel a lot better about your bodies. And, men, if you heard what the gals say, that last piece of lingerie you bought her.....well...she used it to decorate her shoelaces. Men want skimpy. Women want enhancement.

So how do you pick something sexy that both of you will like? The answer is simple. Be aware of the other's preferences. Men and women are different in what turns them on romantically.

Usually, when a man strolls into my store, he walks in, buys something, walks out. When he needs help he's specific in his needs. "Miss, do you have a piece of string, size medium, in Jeep Cherokee white, for my wife? It's our anniversary."

Men want to see skin. Lots of it. and, the more skin they want to see, the more likely it is that it's going to be skin that's bumpy or birthmarky. Women don't want guys to see those parts. Most women have at least one of these parts. Sometimes, it's even part of a set. Like many women, the part that I'm trying to hide is my stomach. To ensure that my belly's seen by as few people as possible I've tattooed these instructions on it: to be viewed only by medical personnel who are removing something underneath..

When a woman buys lingerie, she is trying to accomplish at least one of three objectives: show something, hide something or pretend you've got something. The skinny girls usually don't want to hide anything; they want to show stuff, and pretend they've got stuff. The bigger girls want to show and hide stuff. And, if the stuff is supposed to be big and it's little, that's when you buy the stuff to pretend you've got it. And, if the stuff is big and that stuff looks good big, that's when you show it. And, if it's big and it should be small, cover it up. Guys, we work so hard to please you, that we not only cover up the big parts that don't look good big, we actually try to squish them in. That's why women go to the bathroom in pairs. To make sure no one explodes.

Women who have a C cup or larger need support when they're wearing lingerie. Applauding is not what I mean by support. Guys think architectural engineering. You know the way those cables hold the Golden Gate Bridge up? Bra straps work the same way, except you don't have all those cars going through.. And, underwires are like support beams. Without basic support, a structure will fall. Think about that Leaning Tower of Pisa. It looks like it will topple over any moment. That's the fate awaiting large chested women without the proper bra support. Years from now, they'll be leaning over from the weight of it all.

So, the bottom line is that women want to look beautiful for their sweeties. And, men think that a woman's bare skin is what looks sexiest on her. Keep that in mind, folks, next time you go shopping for lingerie.

How about a sign for your club with your logo and club name on it?

Well, it is really very easy to make up your own logo. It will be unique to your club too.

By using your computer and some copyright free clipart you will have a huge range of material to choose from. Here's how to begin this exciting project.

You are going to select suitable objects from the clipart package and use these to design your logo.

Choose things that relate to your club's activities. For example, cameras, tripod, and film for a photography club. Or perhaps a checked background with a few chess pieces for a chess club.

The easiest way is to open an art/graphics program - most computers come with one. This does not need to be any particular program just whatever you have available.

Have a look through the clipart. This can be the ones that come with the art/graphics program or one of the many clipart CD that are for sale.

Try to use copyright free clipart, most clipart is. You will be combining various clipart objects in your final logo so there shouldn't be any copyright problems anyway.

I like to copy and paste the various clipart objects onto one page in the art program. It saves going back and forth to the clipart. Collect together suitable objects that relate to your club.

Next decide on the shape you would like the logo to be. It could be square, round, arched, even heart shaped.

Open a new page then start with the logo shape and fill it in with a suitable colour. This will depend on the colours of your other objects. If the objects are dark then a light background will be better, and if the objects are mainly light try using a darker background.

Use copy and paste to move the objects onto the page with the logo background. Place your objects onto the background. Resize them to suit the background if necessary.

I like to have some of them overlapping; I think it looks more interesting. When you do this select the one you want to bring to the front, then click on Arrange, then Layer, and bring forward. Your program may be a bit different but it will let you do this - use the Help menu if you need to.

If you want to include the club name, leave room for it when you are placing the objects.

To add the club's name add a Text Box. Type in the club's name. You can use any font you like - there is almost too much choice. Move the text box into the correct position.

You could use a banner shape from the options in the program and place the club name on it if that would suit your layout.

Once you have an arrangement you like use the Edit menu to Select All, and then Save it.

You can make several logos with different objects and different layouts. Be sure to Save the ones you like!

Print them out, and take your new logos to the club so that the club members can decide on the best one to use.

It has never been so easy to create your own logo. How about one for yourself or your family?

Add the logo to all your club stationery. Use it on your letterhead, cards, and activity programs. You could even make your own sign.

A good logo will make your club standout from the crowd.

Bio-Genetic Muscle Building Weight Gain Program

The crash risk is highest for drivers 16 years of age due to their immaturity and limited driving experience. A series of five research papers published in a September 2002 supplement of Injury Prevention address reducing the crash risk among young drivers. A new resume can jump-start your career. Your network contacts may ask for a resume and some industries absolutely, positively demand a resume as the price of admission.

Does your resume come across as wimpy as a lettuce leaf -- the kind that hides under your salad and nobody notices? Create a powerful resume that demands to be noticed -- and earns kudos for great style.

1. Your resume is a sales tool. It is not a place for therapeutic self-disclosure or true confessions. Be honest but present your accomplishments in the most positive way.

2. Leave tricky questions ("Why did you have six jobs in ten years?" "Why are you applying for an entry position after you've been running the show?") for the interview. Practice interview responses with a support group, friend or career coach.

3. If chronology works against you, opt for a sales pitch letter or use your network to get past the screener. If you can't avoid a resume, some experts will advise a functional resume. However, once you show up for an interview, expect to be asked for a chronological review.

4. Focus on accomplishments. "Supervised ten people on a project that finished three weeks before deadline and saved megabucks."

If you're over fifteen, you do not have "duties." You have "responsibilities" and "accomplishments." Anyway, nobody cares about what you were supposed to do. They want to know what you contributed.

5. Exploring multiple jobs? Tailor your resume to each position and each field. Show that you understand your target firm's problems -- and are uniquely equipped to solve them.

6. Do not let anyone write your resume for you. Accept suggestions and feedback but the final product should be in your own words.

How To Clean A Silk Bouquet

A Silk bouquet can last a lot longer than a bouquet made of real flowers, but it will still droop, and get dusty, over time. Fortunately a little bit of preventive care can go a long way towards keeping your bouquet looking like new.

It doesn't take long either. 5 minutes spent caring for your bouquet every 3-6 months will keep your bouquet looking as good as it did they day you bought it.

Read on to discover the 3 simple steps to keeping your silk bouquet in pristine condition. You'll also discover the one thing you should NEVER do to clean your bouquet. Make this mistake, and you might ruin your bouquet forever!

Step 1: Rice Cleaning

Place your bouquet in a plastic shopping bag, along with half a cup of white rice. Twist the bag closed, and then shake the bag for about 60 seconds.

The rice in the plastic bag will get statically charged, and the dust will be attracted to the rice. In the past, people used salt instead of rice, but salt was found to be too hard, and would scratch the flowers. White rice is softer, so it won't damage the flowers at all.

Step 2: Fluffing

Once you have cleaned your silk flowers, hold the bouquet by the handle and then turn it upside down and give it two or three good hard shakes, dropping the rice back into the bag. This should loosen any rice caught in the flowers and also clear away any left over dust. It will also "fluff" the flowers, and give them back their original shape.

Step 3: Plumping And Teasing

After fluffing the bouquet, it is time to make sure all the flowers are in the right position. Using the back of your hand, go around the back of the bouquet and lightly push the flowers back into position, to "plump up" the bouquet. Once you are happy with the general shape, then tease the flowers into the correct position by lightly pulling and pushing on the individual flowers and petals until they are correctly placed.

That's it! Simple, wasn't it? Now, you may have read that you can lightly spray your bouquet with soapy water to get it clean. Regardless of what you may have read, don't ever do this! Never spray your bouquet with water because the wet dust will run and stain your flowers. And stained flowers do NOT look right!

If you follow these simple steps every 3-6 months, your bouquet will stay beautiful, and will be around long enough for future generations to enjoy.

So you've decided to market your home-based copywriting business through article writing. Fantastic! Now comes the hard part: narrowing it down to a topic. What the heck are you going to say in your article?

A friend of mine recently suggested that I write more articles about copywriting. Not such a bad idea, being a copywriter and all. But here's a thought: if all you ever write about is writing, where is the proof that you can actually write? At some point, your prospects WILL ask for samples of work for their specific niches; that is, if you plan to serve clients, and I'm sure you do as that's what a "freelance copywriter" does for a living!

Don't forget the context in which your web articles appear. YOU see the articles as they exist on a submission website. But the reader has an entirely different perspective! Imagine your article in all its shining glory on the delivery page. What's that bio say? Who are you and why would these people want to call you for a paid assignment? You must tell them in your article!

Still convinced you want to write about copywriting and copywriting alone? Okay, but keep this in mind: nine times out of ten, the folks who are interested in reading articles about copywriting are looking to become copywriters themselves.

You can offer them some free advice if you think it will help just to get your name out there. But, don't expect huge contracted jobs to come from "writing about writing." Have you ever chosen to pay attention to someone just because they were so self-absorbed they didn't even know you were in the room? Of course not! We pay attention to people who take an interest in us. If we want our readers to pay attention to us, we better pay attention to them!

The people we come in contact with through the course of our jobs are human beings with feelings, needs, wants, and desires. When we take the time to figure out how what we have to offer fills one or more of their needs, we discover the way to grab-and keep-their attention. After all, if we don't get their attention we can't expect them to read long enough to get our message.

Understanding the Need

Okay, sounds simple enough. But how do we get their attention? How do we figure out how to tune in to their needs-especially when we can't or don't want to know them personally? There's the challenge. Think in terms of what you'd want if the same offer were made to you. Would you buy your own product or concept if the marketing material for it focused on how the manufacturer ultimately benefits by your purchase? No.

For instance, think of all those advertisements you hear and see that offer you a variety of insurance. What is the reason those insurance companies are in business? To make money. After all, if they didn't make money on the products they sell they wouldn't be in business! But will you and I purchase their products if they told us they designed this great new insurance just so they'd have something else to sell? No way!

We will, however, buy that product if they can show us how it fills a gap we are currently experiencing-or if they make us aware of a gap that may occur in our futures. They focus, ultimately, on the benefit to us as the reason they developed this new type of insurance . . . because they know the benefit to us is what gets us to buy.

What if you have to notify employees of a change in a policy that affects them? Maybe it's not a policy change they're going to like, such as a reduction in the amount of personal time they can take. How are you going to find a benefit to sell that situation? Seems tough, but the benefits are there. Let's see if we can brainstorm a few.

Brainstorming the Benefits

To get at the benefit to your readers, begin thinking about the "why" of this policy change to begin with. Is it to save the company money by reducing lost employee work time? Let's say the answer to this question is "yes." In that case, what would be the downside or the consequence of the company leaving the personal time benefit as it is? Perhaps the current system is costing so much money that the company is considering laying off employees to reduce costs. If the personal time policy changed to reduce the amount of time available for employees to take at their own discretion, then when an employee did take time beyond the hours allowed they would be taken without pay. Therefore, the company would save money that would in the long run allow them to retain more employees.

In order to sell this policy change, the job becomes to convey this information to the employees so they understand the need to change the policy. Most resistance to change and most conflict arises from audiences not having enough information about the changes being imposed on them. Making them aware of the benefit to them of reducing personal time may help them to understand the policy change. Increasing their awareness, however, does not guarantee they will be happy with the change. But it does help us lay the groundwork for getting the change across while encountering least resistance.

Asking the Right Questions

When you begin writing your documents, consciously focusing on the benefit to the reader, ask yourself these questions:

�€� What is the benefit to the reader of reading this document or of doing what I'm asking?

�€� What is the consequence if they don't?

Continue asking the consequence question until you dig down two or three layers into the topic to discover the truest consequence. Once the consequence is established, it's easier to begin looking for the benefit of doing what you suggest. Consider the following scenario:

We've developed a homeowner's insurance policy to cover roof repairs for our customers who live in the Northern Nevada desert. What is the benefit to them of this policy? The customer's roof will be repaired through insurance should it become damaged. Is that persuasive enough? I don't think so. So let's look at it from the consequences side.

Last year, 430 homes in the urban areas surrounding Reno were damaged by high winds. Of these 430 homes, only 23 were covered by policies that directly covered roof damage. The remaining 407 homes had no coverage. Consequently, their owners had to pay for their repairs out of pocket. Of these 407, 348 homeowners were unable to pay for the repairs without going into debt.

The majority of them had to refinance their existing homes, take equity loans, or seek some other form of financing to make the repairs. This set them back in their goals toward reaching their retirement funding targets. It's estimated that 80 percent of these homeowners will have to work beyond the point at which they had planned to retire in order to repay the debt for repairing their homes. Should they remain uncovered by insurance for this type of damage and a similar event occur, they will sink deeper into debt-when an affordable addendum policy was available to them prior to the first event.

Putting it into Words

If we wrote a document marketing this policy to our clients, telling them this entire scenario would be manipulative and cheap. Most of our savvy readers would know what we're doing and quit reading long before they found any benefit to them.

Instead, we use this scenario to help us find the selling point in the scenario. The selling point is to buy the policy now so that their retirement income will be intact. Rather than running the risk of needing to take out a loan for home repairs, purchasing this policy will ensure that should the worst happen they will be covered and need only make a simple telephone call to speed help their way.

Wrapping it Up

Whether it's an insurance policy, a change in employee policy, an attempt to enlist support for an upcoming corporate event, coaching an employee to modify behavior, or pulling together a team for a project, focusing on the benefit to the individuals involved will more often encourage and create cooperation where before only resistance existed. Find the specific and personal benefit to your readers, and focus the document around that point. This will ensure your document has a reader-focus because you are focusing on what's important to them.

Entrepreneurs and their businesses have a tendency to ambush themselves when they aren't looking. This affects how much revenue they can generate, how fast their business rises, and even if they survive after the first few years. If you feel there is a possibility you are getting in your way to success, review these elements to see if any of these items might apply.

1. Imagine investing time and money into a product or services, only to find that it isn't selling. Or at least it doesn't have the results that you expected. Now, I'm talking realistic here, and not some grandiose vision. It's hard to give up something when you have invested your resources into something, more importantly, you have spout off to the world (okay, friends and family) that you were doing it.

Gluing yourself to an idea, product, or service that isn't making any money or enough money to support the business isn't smart. Ego and pride don't make money. Getting hitched to any one idea, or even two, that isn't profitable isn't smart. Every product climbs and falls -- even McDonalds drops a product when it doesn't test strong.

The same applies to the title of independent professional -- which is another name for entrepreneur. Stand tall and proud.

When I ask people at networking events if they're an entrepreneur, they often respond with strange body language. Some shift their stance uncomfortably, sometimes their hand goes over their mouth and they let out a barely audible, "yes," and sometimes they even correct me, using some other title.

3. No bologna (or b.s.). Entrepreneurs can be naturally excited and optimistic about what they are doing. Don't let the excitement sound like hype. Because of this people don't trust you. Don't just tell the pros, add the cons. Let people know, who is the best person for this service - not everyone, or what circumstances are best for the product. People aren't stupid but if they have to figure the cons of the product or service, you will most likely lose the sale.

4. Being in denial of your cash position.

Not balancing the checkbook, not knowing what your accounts receivables, payables, or what the break even cost is for a product or service, isn't smart business. If you don't know what it is, get a book on the topic or talk to an accountant. Denial creates fear, and fear creates denial. It's a vicious circle that creates stress and ulcers. Short term projects turn around short term dollars. Long term projects never turn around short term dollars. Be realistic with all your resources.

5. Accepting weak any bodies. Whether its weak staff, weak clients, weak strategic alliances, or anyone else in your support realm. If you are attracting weak people, you are giving weak signals. Change your signals and you will change what you attract. To attract strong people, you need strong signals.

6. Confusing possibility with reality. One of the main characteristics of an entrepreneur, and this could be one of the reasons people may not like using the name, is their gift to see everything in possibilities, yet spend money in the world of reality. Money is always reality.

7. Selling or trying too hard to explain what you sell. If you find yourself pushing what you're product or service does, it is time to change your "success formula." Common causes are: (1) You are trying to sell to someone who isn't your target, or (2) If you have the right target and you don't know what you are selling. You can only handle this in two ways, know what the customers are buying, or know the benefits of what you are selling. Benefits in the terms customers need to hear and understand, not what you choose to say.

8. Lack of any or adequate support structures. If it takes a village to raise a child, what do you think it takes to raise a business. Surely, not a lone ranger. Work with others to help handle your many business and personal needs. Entrepreneurs need support, even if it's only a feeling. Arrange to have a support structure for every part of your business. Keep in mind tip number five above for this as well.

9. Over or under delegating. It is so hard for entrepreneurs to begin to delegate. Yet once they do they seem to swing the pendulum completely to the opposite side and over delegate. Over delegating is "dumping" on people. Even paid people, don't like being dumped on. Feeling in control is a need of most people, entrepreneurs aren't any different. They look at it as a money or trust issue, when in actuality it's usually a control issue. Delegate appropriately and with people that think you can trust. Let the trust build over time.

10. Stop giving up so easily. Successful entrepreneurs don't see failure. They see learning lessons. They pick themselves up, dust themselves off, change and adjust, and keep moving. Being an entrepreneur, during the early years of a business -- that is under five years for most professionals, takes more work than being an employee. Even if you are a graduate with an MBA in business. Don't include your learning curve time in with the rest of your time. Everyone has a learning curve of some kind.

Baby Development Milestones: The Secrets of Best Babies

There is no doubt mothers' milk is the best food in the world for the babies. Unfortunately, mothers' milk of today ain't the same as the mothers' milk thirty years ago. A recent study confirmed previous findings that American mothers' milk contains high levels of toxic chemicals called polybrominated diphenyl esters (PBDEs), among other toxic pollutants such as PCBs and dioxins.

The study was conducted by an environment-concerned group called Northwest Environment Watch. Milk from 40 breastfeeding women in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and Montana were analyzed for PBDEs.

The study found that PDBEs are present in the milk of all women ranging from 6 to 321 parts per billion (ppb) with 50 ppb as the medium level. These numbers are high compared to mothers' milk in Sweden and Japan where the pollutants in mothers' milk are generally below 3 ppb.

The levels of these chemicals are high enough to trigger toxicity reactions in lab mice in which PBDEs can cause productive problems and cancers, and damage the nervous system.

In Europe, two of three types of PBDEs have been banned and the third one will be banned soon. In the U.S., these pollutants have not drawn enough attention to consider any protective measures.

PBDEs, chemically and toxicologically like PCBs that can cause the same health problems, are generally used as flame retardants in household products such as furniture, consumer electronics, and carpets.

Studies found not long ago that dust sucked inside computers contains a level of PBDEs that can be as high as 300 part per million. Studies also found that many foods are polluted with PBDEs. Cases of household electronics can also carry quite a lot of PBDEs. PBDEs are ubiquitous and we are in no way able to escape from these pollutants.

Still, physicians recommend that babies be fed mothers' milk for at least one year or more if so desired by the mother or the baby because of the overwhelming health benefits from the best baby food.

Never allow yours or other people's objections like "our shipping department just isn't fast enough" or "the box supplies are getting low", to slow you down. Just keep everyone so busy that they won't even have time to worry about it.

How do you promote? There are more ways than you would ever think. Have you ever heard someone say, "I never promote and I am always busy" OR "I don't have to promote, all my business comes from word-of-mouth"? They may not be aware of how they're doing it, but I promise you they are promoting somewhere. Maybe they just go around telling everyone they talk to, that they don't promote. (Sound funny? It's still promoting.) Maybe their larger-than-life running water faucet in front of their store attracts so much attention that they don't need to do anything else. Well here are some ideas you can do "knowingly" to drive in the business.

�€� Greeting your customers with a smile is a great place to start.

�€� Calling your customers after they have had a chance to use your product is a good way to promote that you care about their experience with your organization. It can also create an opportunity to make more sales.

�€� Always keep up-to-date brochures or catalogs about your business in your reception area for people to see and take with them.

�€� If you have customers coming into your business, make sure they are greeted pleasantly, professionally, and immediately.

Anything that makes the company or its employees better thought of or more well known is promotion.

But how do you go about promoting to the masses?

Here is a story that could save you thousands of marketing and promotional dollars, as well as months or years of experience.

"I was working as the Communications & Promotional Director in a medium size business. We were fortunate enough to have our own commercial printing press, that put out lots of very fancy letters, catalogs, brochures and other promotional items, and oh yes, envelopes to put them in. My full time pressman and his helpers, spent several days each week getting everything printed, cut, folded and sent over to the mailing house.

There, they had machines that automated all the stuffing, sorting, addressing and stamping. All in all everything was going very well. We were sending out about 40,000 pieces per week at a cost of about $10,800.00, and getting around 120 to 140 good leads per week. This generated an average of 2 new sales per week for a product that cost around $12,000, and re-sign income of around $45,000 more. We weren't growing very fast, but we were making money.

THEN...911 hit.

Suddenly, nobody wanted to open envelopes. Our leads were dropping to nothing. We were heading toward our own disaster like so many other companies did. I knew I needed to promote, but what good did it do if nobody read it!

I was talking to the owner of the mailing house and he suggested the use of POSTCARDS instead of letters. So we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I had much less money to allocate towards promotion, so I started by sending about 20,000 postcards weekly. The total cost-per-piece, needing only one day on the presses, half the labor at the mail house and a substantial decrease in postage, was reduced by about 60%."

What was the result? Try 120 to 140 leads per week!

�€� You see it right away, the bright picture is not hidden from view by an envelope.

Another thing to consider is most, if not all volleyball leagues do not allow temporary tattoos to be worn during matches. After you have been fully equipped for playing volleyball, there are other things that you need to keep in mind. These are the basic safety rules of volleyball, and should be adhered to at all times.

Physical Contact

Body Positions

In volleyball, an important aspect of the sport is the position your body is in, whether you are setting the ball, serving, or spiking. Improper body positions can cause injury to yourself, or potentially others, so you should take great care in assuring that you assume the proper positions.

Setting

When setting the ball, you should always be careful to watch the ball, and be in position several ball lengths before arrival. Facing the target rather than the origin can prevent being hit in the face with the ball. Losing focus on the ball can also result in being unbalanced due to reacting to the ball being where you do not expect it. This can result in injury, as sprained wrists and ankles are a likelihood.

Serving

When performing the serve, you want to make certain your lead foot is opposite from your hitting arm. If your lead and hitting arm are both on the same side, you will be unbalanced, which can result in a wide serve and injury. You must also make certain to hold a firm wrist position when completing the serve.

Spiking

This can be one of the more dangerous aspects of volleyball. When spiking the ball, you will be in motion, and using a heavy, hard action on the wrist and your body. As you are jumping in this move, you run risk of sprained ankles and other foot related injuries. Injuries resulting from falls are also extremely potential in this move. When performing your spike, there are several things you need to remember. First, you should be jumping with both feet. A one foot jump can lead to injury. Also, you should not perform a "tennis" swing. This is where you side-sweep with one arm, while your other arm swings backwards. This is a risk to yourself and your teammates, and should be avoided. Your wrist should also be held back in this position, and snapped forward on the spike. A dead-on hit can jam or sprain your wrist. By keeping these small tips in mind, you should be able to prevent injuries.

Passing

This is the one of the most common moves in volleyball. The pass, or the forearm bump, is performed by holding your hands together and hitting the ball with your forearms. A good pass involves your hands being held together, while your elbows are held straight, and your wrists remain firmly in position. Your body should be positioned towards your target when the pass is completed. If any of these things are not done during the pass, you run a risk of injury to yourself and others. This is where a great deal of wrist injuries occur, as hitting the ball with your hands instead of your forearms can cause sprains or breaks in your wrists.

Physical Contact

In Volleyball, physical contact should be avoided at all times. As this is a no-contact sport, collisions usually result in injuries that prevent you or your teammates from participating in future games. While many sprains only take a week or two to heal, broken ankles and wrists from collisions take far longer and can ruin your season. Always keep in mind where your teammates and opponents are. By doing this, you can save yourself and your comrades a lot of pain and trouble.

At first, all of these volleyball safety tips may be overwhelming. However, without them, you will find yourself out of play due to a painful injury. Persistence in following the basic rules of safety can prevent this and enable you to enjoy the game to its fullest extent.

(b) One who has the ability to help others should do so eagerly and one who has wealth should make donations and help people generously. Those endowed with high morals should influence and reform others.

So the happiest thing in the world is to do good deeds, to help others and to have a satisfied mind.

The man of perfect virtues has three sources of happiness.

1] That his parents and siblings are still living.

2] He feels righteous even before God.

3] He surrounds himself with talented people and is able to educate them.

These are the delights that virtuous men desire. Make the devil your enemy but do not make people your enemy.

No matter what your fifth-grade English teacher says, some grammar "rules" no longer apply. The style mavens of our day all agree that the ability to communicate clearly and concisely takes precedence over archaic grammar rules. Stop chewing your pencils and forget about these rules. Each rule is followed by a grammatically correct sentence.

1. Never split an infinitive.
I want to carefully consider all of the options presented to me.

Following this rule all of the time will make your prose unnecessarily academic and stuffy. When in doubt, don't split the infinitive. But if splitting the infinitive conveys your meaning more clearly and concisely, split away.

2. Active verbs are always better than passive verbs.
Jerry was robbed. (The active alternative: Somebody robbed Jerry.)

Generally, active verbs are better. In the following cases, however, passive tense works just fine.
*When you don't want to mention who did it
*When you don't know who did it
*When who did it is irrelevant
*When the passive voice places the emphasis where you want it

3. Never start a sentence with a conjunction (and, or, but).
And then he left, never looking back.

Starting a sentence with a conjunction can help transition from one idea to another or add a dramatic tone to a passage. If you start sentences this way too often, your paragraphs will sound like one long run-on sentence. Use conjunctions at the start of sentences judiciously.

4. Never start a sentence with there are or there is.
There is no excuse for your behavior.

Sentences that begin with there are and there is are usually weak sentences in need of a stronger noun. But making a conscious decision to start a sentence this way to place emphasis on specific words is perfectly acceptable. "Your behavior is inexcusable" and "You have no excuse for your behavior" just don't sound as stern as the sentence above.

5. Never end a sentence with a preposition.
What is he pointing at?

This holdover from the 18th century has no place in modern language. Imagine how stilted and formal our language would be if we followed this rule! According to Words into Type, Winston Churchill once said, "This is the kind of nonsense up with which I will not put" in defense of the terminal preposition.

6. Always use more than instead of over with numbers.
The relic is over 300 years old.

Over, more than and in excess of can all be used with numbers. Let your ear, rather than a rigid rule, be your guide.

7. Data is plural, so the verb must always be plural.
The data proves his thesis.

Like several other plural words with Latin origins, data is now accepted as either singular or plural, as any up-to-date dictionary will confirm. When was the last time you heard someone use the word datum (the singular of data) in a sentence?

I was 17 at the time (the Beatles era), and it was considered cool to play the guitar. I had a little training in music in elementary school where I had learned how to play the trumpet. I remember that the only reason I started the trumpet was because my daddy had run across an old beat up horn that a woman was selling for $10.

So, in my junior year of high school I set about to teach myself how to play a few chords so I could strum along with "Love, Love Me Do" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand". However, it never occurred to me that learning how to play the guitar might just be a little different than learning the trumpet.

Actually, what happened was that I gave up after about 2 weeks and threw the old guitar that my daddy had given me in the corner and in frustration declared "I don't see how anyone can play a guitar".

It's funny how I remember thinking those very words.

I didn't know it then but my difficulty with learning how to play was because my guitar strings were about a half inch off the fret board and it was extremely difficult to mash the strings down. After about 1 week I was developing thick calluses on the tips of my fingers on my left hand.

My desire to play eventually overcame my initial frustration and I did go on to conquer the instrument to become quite proficient. Eventually I ended up attending the Berklee College of Music studying guitar.

If you have a desire to play the guitar my advice is to not give up, Eventually you'll succeed if you don't quit.

When Akio Morita came up with the idea of the Sony Walkman all of his colleagues at the thought he was completely insane. The general consensus was that people wouldn't want to walk around the streets wearing headphones. Everyone thought the idea was ludicrous and that it would never catch on.

Speakers are not the only alternative to headphones. You could also consider buying an FM transmitter. These will allow you to transmit the audio from your iPod directly to any nearby FM radio.

Probably the most popular of the current batch of FM transmitters for the iPod is the iTrip from Griffen Technology. This is a very small unit that plugs directly into the headphone socket on your iPod. Select the frequency you wish to transmit at via the iPod display and then just tune in a radio to listen. It takes its power directly from the iPod itself so be warned. If your batteries are not charged or your unit is not connected to a charger you will run out of power quicker than usual.

The iTrip is not the only option. You'll find quality FM transmitters from Belkin, Kensington and many other accessory manufacturers. Prices range from around $20 up to about $100.

As a member of several search engine optimization forums, I have recently noticed (especially since Yahoo recently decided to try their hand at competing with Google) that the stress level of many webmasters has gone way up. This applies not only to webmasters involved in Internet-based home businesses, but to webmasters in general.

Additionally, it seems that many people that are in the business of search engine optimization (SEO) are, with good reason, going completely bonkers. As Google

came on the scene in 1998 and quickly dominated the search business, website optimization became largely a game of shooting at a single target, namely, pleasing Google...for all intents and purposes, Google became the "800 pound gorilla" of the search engine business.

Since the advent of search engines (particularly Google) spawned the whole SEO business, I guess its only fair that the search engine industry can once again turn the SEO business on its ear, and it seems now to be sort of a cat and mouse (not desktop) relationship that can get really interesting as we move forward.

Not only are there now several viable players (most notably Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and Ask Jeeves) in the search engine business, but they are all adopting different and frequently changing algorithms for determining the ranking positions for websites.

The current game is that webmasters are trying to figure out how the various search engines perform the rankings and, on the flip side, the search engines are striving to be unpredictable to those webmasters and SEO firms.

For those people using websites to promote home-based businesses, it can be stressful constantly trying to determine "what the search engines want" and agonizing over every downward fluctuation in rankings that their website may experience.

Looking forward in time, I think we can expect that rankings will fluctuate frequently and will not be at all consistent from one search engine to another. It will be quite common that for a particular search term a website might suffer a drop in position ranking for search engine "A" and an increase position ranking for search engine "B" at essentially the same point in time.

Rather than stressing out over every position ranking "wiggle", a better approach might be to just focus on "what do visitors to my site want?". The search engines are striving to give their users a quality (relevant) search experience and if you are focused in giving visitors to your website what they are looking for, these paths will meet somewhere down the road.

You can save yourself alot of consternation by focusing upon the needs of the website visitors you are seeking to attract, rather than chasing the frequently changing ranking algorithms of several search engines. Focus on a single target instead of chasing several moving targets at the same time.

The marketers who we see more often are the successful marketers who are making tons of money. Aren't they? Maybe or maybe not, but one thing is clear;

It is a good marketing strategy to get yourself onto these sales pages.

So are these frequent appearances by some in internet marketing the result of being successful or are they successful because they have been on so many testimonials?

Obviously most of these marketers have been successful and that is why they are often on the testimonial page. But I believe that being in these testimonials is a huge plus for any internet marketer or web site owner, including the new ones.

If you have a chance to get a testimonial online for one of these companies do it. Plus, put as much information as you can about your business, blog or website. As much as they will allow. If you can have a link, that is great.

The inexperienced marketer can also get a testimonial put on these companies. It has to be when they are young though. If you join a new company and they don't have a testimonial page ask them if they would like a testimonial from you. Sometimes they will send out an email asking for testimonials from their members. Jump on this opportunity and do a good testimonial.

It couldn't hurt and just may get you a lot of free traffic.
